North To Alaska and memories made.

Just got back from a Cruise to Alaska. I went with my mom 5 years ago and the whole time I was there I kept thinking about how much my husband would love Alaska. A chance came up to go so I took him this time. The seas were rough getting there but once on land it was as special as ever. We went a new place for me called Haines. I think I must have liked it because I took a ton of photos of it.

Haines was not the first stop. Sitka was and we were very happy to step on land.

Not many photos in Ketchikan because we were on a Duck Boat.

In the middle of this is Glacier Bay. Stunning as always.

Last stop is to see the pretty flowers at Butchart Gardens.

It is good to go and it is good to be home. We both had a splendid time on this long awaited
 trip to the North.

NLWM 2013

So many letters this month. April is National Letter Writing Month and I have had a very fun mail box. Here are just a few of the photos I have taken. One photo is a repeat but I wanted to add it to the mix.
big group of beautiful mail

first I started stringing them but I got to many cards to string.

these photos are cards I made. One is an amped up
photograph of my slippers that I made into postcards and
the second is a very involved
collage card of a photo of a fabric wall hanging
I did of our little travel trailer.

These are the three cards I got today and they had tea bags in them...

Ananda Tulip Garden

Wow, yesterday was a beauty filled day. Great flowers, great food, and new friends. I went to the Ananda Tulip Garden with Roadrunner's travel club. We were lucky to have sun, even thought we had some wind , the wind held off until we were out of the gardens and off to lunch. I had a gluten free basil, pesto noodle dish along with lentils and salad. I talked to some wonderful ladies and took some pretty good photos.

A Friday of food, flowers and mail

Today was a food day. What that means around here is that we pick up food from all the grocery stores around town and deliver it to the food bank. It stopped raining so we had a fairly easy pick up and delivery. Joe has been doing this for 2 years and I have started helping about 6 months ago. Through rain and sleet and snow we get food for the food bank to pass out to the needy in the area.

While the guys were unloading the food I saw some beautiful flowers at the end of the driveway.
Today was a great day in my mailbox. The 5th day of NLWM and cards in the mail.
I strung the cards up on ribbon to hang by our entry hall.

Thanks to give 2011

Thanksgiving and I am thankful for the people that love me and the home my husband has built us. I am thankful for the challenges that teach me how to be a better person. We have many blessings and I try to remember them each day.
