Fabric and paper flowers

I saw this craft on Youtube and totally fell in love with the flowers. Then I saw that the projects were 2 years old. I just have to face it again that I don't keep up with all the new trends in clothing or crafts. When it comes to electronics it is even sadder, I'm usually 10 years behind.
I started with one flower as practice and then made another one and then the third, which I then started to call them sunflowers. I went scrambling through the kitchen drawer because I knew at some point I saw some old coffee filters. Low and behold they were there and they were brown ones. Yippee. I stamped a coffee filter like I was told on Youtube and let it dry, I cut out the circles and sewed basting stitches onto the paper. The next step was to bunch up the stitches, and it worked.  I found my buttons for the flower centers and then thought I needed to try a stamped doily flower. I didn't sew this one because once I cut out the circles there was no place to sew. My husband asked me what I was going to do with the flowers, and I really didn't have a clue.
The next day I thought I should make a wall hanging with my cute little sunflowers. I love the fabric I used as background and then thought it needed a border. The sunflowers didn't do it for me. Boring...I knew it needed leaves, but I felt to lazy to make them. Finally I got around to an idea for the leaves but they didn't work out how I planned. I wanted bulk and a 3 dimensional look so I backed the leaves with felt to make them pop on the background fabric. Finally,I liked the leaves and flowers but I wanted to add some sparkle and beads to represent flowers sparkling in the undergrowth of leaves. Man oh man the creative process is sometimes slow.

36 years and love is in the air

For our 36th anniversary we went up the mountain with our little Daisy to a campground I found on the internet. We had a wonderful time and some great new experiences.

These are my little Lilly and Felix  for a Facebook group, they are paper dolls that traveled with us.
 Mimosas for our celebration.

Trout from pond to table. We didn't eat trout but they were fun to watch.

Joe making decaf Mocha
We will go here again for other new experiences. Lots of lakes and hiking trails.
